Your retreat begins in Lima on the 9th November
Lima is a vibrant coastal city where ancient and modern worlds intertwine. Once part of the Incan heartland, Lima still hums with sacred energy. Beneath its lively streets, ancient temples like Huaca Pucllana and Pachacamac hold the echoes of pre-Columbian ceremonies, while the vast Pacific and distant Andes cradle the city in elemental balance.
You’ll spend two nights in the beautiful Hotel Antigua Miraflores, a peaceful space to ground and arrive. Each day includes meditation, breathwork, and dance guided by Megara, and Chardin, helping you settle into presence and attune to the energy of the land. Together we’ll explore Lima’s spiritual and cultural essence, visiting sacred sites and soaking in the creative spirit of Barranco’s art and music. Evenings offer time to enjoy Peru’s soulful cuisine, a celebration of Pachamama through flavour and ritual, all beautifully coordinated by Jess, who will ensure we’re well cared for throughout our stay.
These first days create space for grounding, integration, and connection, allowing the group to become a unified, cohesive circle before journeying deep into the Amazon for the Ayahuasca retreat on the 11th November.
A Sacred Journey in the Heart of the Amazon
We will then fly from Lima to Pucallpa on the 11th November before embarking on a profound 9-day journey at Nimea Kaya, a renowned Ayahuasca healing centre nestled in the Peruvian Amazon. Guided by experienced Shipibo healers, this retreat offers a safe, supportive environment for those seeking deep healing and spiritual awakening. With a focus on traditional practices and holistic well-being, Nimea Kaya provides a sanctuary for transformation and growth.
Ceremonial Immersion: Four Ayahuasca Ceremonies
Throughout the retreat, participants will engage in four Ayahuasca ceremonies. These sacred rituals are conducted in the ceremonial Maloka, a traditional space designed for spiritual work. The ceremonies are led by both male and female Shipibo healers, ensuring a balanced and respectful approach to the medicine. Each ceremony offers a unique opportunity for introspection, healing, and connection with the plant spirit.
Holistic Practices for Integration and Healing
Complementing the ceremonies, the retreat includes various holistic practices to support your journey. Sound baths and breathwork sessions facilitate deep relaxation and emotional release. Plant baths and medicinal plant walks connect participants with the healing properties of the jungle, enhancing the integration of the Ayahuasca experience.
Traditional Shipibo Healing and Support
At the retreat, healing is rooted in the traditions of the Shipibo people. Participants have the opportunity to engage in one-on-one consultations with the shamans and facilitators, receiving personalized guidance and support. The retreat emphasises the importance of integration circles, where guests can share their experiences and insights, fostering a sense of community and mutual support.

A Life-Changing Experience
Past participants have described their time at Nimea Kaya as life-changing. Many report profound healing from trauma, anxiety, and depression, as well as a deeper connection to themselves and the world around them. The retreat offers a unique opportunity to step away from daily life and immerse oneself in a supportive environment dedicated to healing and transformation.
Sustainable Practices and Ethical Sourcing
The Ayahuasca medicine used during the retreat is sourced sustainably. Nimea Kaya collaborates with local communities to cultivate Ayahuasca vines and chacruna leaves, ensuring ethical harvesting practices. The Ayahuasca medicine is prepared by Maestro Cecilio Cauper with great care and reverence. Every stage of the brewing process is approached with intention and respect, as the quality and potency of the medicine depend on the energy infused during its creation. Only two sacred plants are used, the Ayahuasca vine and the chacruna leaves with no additional admixtures. Participants may be invited to participate in the preparation and, at the end of their retreat, have the opportunity to drink from the very brew they helped create.
The process begins with the careful scraping and removal of the vine’s outer bark to soften its taste. The vine is then pounded with wooden mallets until fibrous, while the chacruna leaves are gently washed in fresh water. The two plants are layered in large pots and slowly boiled for many hours, gradually reducing until the brew reaches its final concentrated form. Throughout the process, prayers, blessings, and loving intention are continuously offered, an essential part of creating a strong and healing medicine. Guests who take part in this sacred preparation often find that it deepens their connection to the spirit of Ayahuasca and enhances the healing they receive.
Floral Plant Baths
Guests are offered herbal and floral baths after each ceremony, prepared with a unique blend of plants and flowers gathered from the surrounding jungle. These sacred baths are designed to cleanse and refresh the energetic body, washing away any lingering or stagnant energies. They serve as an important part of the healing process, helping participants open to deeper levels of transformation during the Ayahuasca ceremonies. The experience is both invigorating and restorative, leaving guests feeling renewed in body, mind, and spirit.
Comfortable and Serene Accommodations
Accommodations at Nimea Kaya are designed to provide comfort and tranquility. Guests stay in simple, clean rooms that allow for restful sleep and personal reflection. The retreat center is surrounded by lush jungle, offering a peaceful environment conducive to healing and introspection. Shared spaces encourage community interaction, while private areas provide solitude when needed.
Meals at the Retreat
The meals at the retreat are prepared with love and intention to nourish and support the healing journey. The plant-based menu is dairy- and gluten-free, with optional eggs and chicken available for added protein.
Breakfast includes seasonal fruit, superfood smoothies, granola, oatmeal, vegetable medleys, eggs, and vegan coconut-banana-oat pancakes. Lunches and dinners feature fresh salads, beans, yuca, and rotating dishes such as Quinoa Tabouli, Plantain Burgers, Summer Squash Soup, and Vegan Black Bean Burgers with Tropical Coleslaw.
All meals are aligned with the Ayahuasca diet and rich in nutrition. Drinking water comes from a well, purified through a five-stage reverse osmosis system and additional filtration. Health and wellbeing are prioritized throughout the dieta process.
Community and Cultural Connection
The retreat centre fosters a strong sense of community among participants. With a group size of 14, individuals receive personalized attention while benefiting from shared experiences. The retreat also emphasizes cultural exchange, allowing guests to learn about the Shipibo traditions and the rich heritage of the Amazon. This blend of community and culture enriches the healing journey.
Jill Levers is originally from the U.S. She spent a decade during her twenties experiencing many different aspects of life, from attending University in California, Arizona and Mexico, helping build alternative eco-homes and doing humanitarian volunteer work in various countries. After years of struggling with depression and seeking more spiritual fulfillment in her life, she made her first journey to Peru to experience Ayahuasca in 2007. During her second ceremony she received the call from the sacred medicine to dedicate her life in helping individuals heal and transform their lives. She first co-found the Tierra Vida Healing Center in 2008. The vision had expanded to relocate the Center, and in 2013 the Nimea Kaya Healing Center was birthed. Jill has been serving as a bridge between the western world and the traditional lineage of the Shipibo culture over the last 17 years. She helps oversee many of the programs within Healing Center and the Selva Spirit NGO Association. Jill coordinates the Ayahuasca retreats, organizes bookings, assists as a co-director of community outreach projects, serves as a yoga instructor and a Spanish/English interpreter. Casey Honaker has been deeply involved in the Amazonian shamanic world of Ayahuasca for seventeen years. Casey is originally from Arizona, USA. In his twenties, he pursued a career path in western healthcare, obtaining degrees in physical therapy and nursing. While working in western healthcare, he began to see where deeper and genuine healing was lacking within this system. His search for truth led him to research and explore sovereignty and self sustainability in all aspects of his life ranging from natural law, gardening, off grid electrical systems, eco-frendly building and alternative health care. Casey is passionate and dedicated to his purpose in the elevation of the consciousness of humanity. By using his knowledge of inspiring new healing modalities mixed with traditional ceremonial practices, Casey is able to provide counsel on many modern health issues and situations. With a diverse background ranging from the fields of nursing, community health and hospitality, Casey provides genuine compassion and support for the guests coming to Nimea Kaya.
Our team is a blend of teachers, guides and friends who hold the space together. Here's who you will be journeying with - companions walking beside you on this pilgrimage into the wildness of Peru and the Amazon.
Chardin’s path began in the vineyards of New Zealand and France, where he earned degrees in Oenology and Viticulture and spent years immersed in the rhythms of the land. Over time, his journey turned inward, drawing him toward the world of meditation, yoga, mantra and healing. For the past 15 years, he has been walking the path guided by teachers, mystics, alchemists, seers, shamans, traditions and practices that continue to shape his understanding and devotion.
His meditation journey began under the guidance of a Master Buddhist Monk, where he was introduced to the Theravāda lineage and the profound stillness of vipassanā practice. This foundation naturally evolved into a deep exploration of the Himalayan Tantric Hatha Yoga tradition, where he completed a 500-hour training and received initiation into mantra, pranayama, and meditative practices rooted in the Sri Vidya lineage - a path revered for its wisdom, beauty, and pursuit of Self-realisation. Along the way, he also immersed himself in the study of alchemy and was initiated into Kriya Yoga in the tradition of Paramahansa Yogananda, a meditation practice akin to the Himalayan Raja Yoga taught at Soul Room. In addition, years of study with two Bhakti masters deepened his understanding of devotion and sacred sound, opening the heart through the power of love and mantra.
Chardin’s exploration of healing emerged through direct experience - first through plant medicines, then through subtle energy work. His work with master teacher plants unfolded over several years, bringing him into deeper relationship with nature as a healer. Later, under the guidance of a Chi Master, he began to work with the subtle frequencies of prāṇa/chi and the healing intelligence of energy. These experiences, alongside Reiki training, helped awaken an inner sensitivity and a calling to be of service and a guide to others on their own paths of healing and awakening.
Growing up in Kumeū, Auckland, on a beautiful flower farm with her parents and sister, Jess spent much of her childhood outdoors - barefoot, rain or shine, surrounded by colour and life. Those early years taught her to appreciate nature’s quiet beauty and to notice the small things, the ones that often go unseen but make life feel extraordinary. She strives to live in the moment; though not without worries, she has always believed there is magic in the everyday if one takes a moment to notice it.
Like many people, Jess’s journey hasn’t always been easy. Through school and into her twenties, she struggled to find her place, facing challenges with friendships and at times losing sight of who she truly was. It wasn’t until she made the choice to travel the world at twenty-two that everything began to shift. Somewhere between sleepy train stations, unfamiliar streets, and stretching meadows, she began to find herself again. She often reflects that perhaps one must first get lost to truly find oneself.
Upon returning home and stepping into her thirties, Jess decided to change careers and pursue writing, something that had quietly called to her since childhood. Since then, she has been fortunate to write for some of New Zealand’s most respected magazines and to create The Nook, her own lifestyle platform - a project that feels like both a dream realised and the beginning of something even greater.
Jess continues to seek growth, connection, and discovery within herself and within this beautiful world we live in. And now, she stands on the cusp of another incredible journey.
Rooted in embodiment, a non-dual tantric lineage and unwavering devotion to the path of awakening Shakti. Megara’s journey on this path began at the young age of 17, in a time of deep transformation - the transmissions of yoga found her like a light in the dark. What began as a daily devotion to personal healing, has become a lifelong pilgrimage of love. Since then, she walks hand in hand with mystics and teachers steeped in the living lineages of Shakta Tantra, Bhakti Yoga & Non-Dual Shaiva Tantra.
Her practices act as bridges between body and earth, the sacred and sensual, spirit and soul. Through somatic movement, ritual, mantra and myth, she weaves spaces into portals wherein the body becomes the temple. Allowing the practitioners to directly experience the creative forces of shakti living within themselves, returning home to the radiant aliveness stirring within.
Believing we are the artists and alchemists of our life, with the power to alchemize our wounds into wisdom, pain into peace. With over 500 hours of RYT trainings, including Trauma-Informed Space Holding, Embodied Flow, Hatha Vinyasa Yoga and Shakta Tantra - as well as thousands of hours teaching and holding space over the past 10 years - she offers not only her knowledge, but her full presence, care, and love. You are held safely in her holdings.
